This ½ day module is designed for staff working in and around caves. It can be adapted to your needs but covers topics such as:
- Caving hazards.
- Choice of Kit; Suitable Thermal protection. Wetsuit vs. dry gear
- First aid kit for caving – modifications for the cave environment.
- Treating infected cuts and grazes.
- Treating casualties in caves – practical scenarios – preferably underground.
- Assisting the ‘walking wounded’ out of the cave.
- Self rescue or call the professionals?
- Cave rescue. Callout and what happens then?
- Cave diseases: histoplasmosis, rabies, leptospirosis, etc.
